How we help
What does Lumeva Wellness offer as a mental health clinic Minneapolis adults can visit?
We offer three kinds of support for adults: individual therapy, psychiatric evaluation with medication management, and ARMHS. You can use one, or combine them as your needs change.
Individual therapy
One-on-one sessions for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and life transitions. Your therapist may use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to work with unhelpful thought patterns, or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to build skills for strong emotions and relationships.
Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
A thorough evaluation of your symptoms and history, followed by ongoing medication management if medication is right for you. You hear the reason behind each recommendation, and changes are made with you, not for you.
Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS)
ARMHS helps adults living with persistent mental illness build daily living, community and coping skills, in the home or community. Minnesota sets the eligibility rules, and you can read the state’s overview of ARMHS. If you are unsure whether you may qualify, just ask us.
These services are offered at one mental health clinic Minneapolis adults can reach in person or by telehealth, so they can work together instead of separately. You can also browse all of our mental health services in Minneapolis.
Good to know
Outpatient mental health Minneapolis: what does it involve?
Outpatient care means scheduled visits with no hospital stay. You go home the same day and come back for follow-ups. It is not an emergency service, so please see the crisis information further down if you need help right now.
Choosing where to start
Therapy and psychiatry Minneapolis: which should I start with?
Start with therapy if you want tools and a place to talk things through. Start with a psychiatric evaluation if symptoms are affecting your sleep, focus or daily life and you would like a medical review. Many people use both.
The National Institute of Mental Health explains that treatment usually involves therapy, medication or a combination of the two, and that it can be given in person or by telehealth.
What do you need right now?
I want tools and a place to talk things through
→ Start with therapy
Symptoms are affecting my sleep, focus or daily life, and I would like a medical review
→ Start with a psychiatric evaluation
Many people use both
| Therapy | Psychiatric evaluation and medication management | |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | Regular conversations with a therapist | A medical review of your symptoms, history and medications, with follow-up if treatment starts |
| Good place to start if | You want tools for stress, relationships or hard thoughts | Symptoms are hard to manage day to day, or you want to talk through whether medication could help |
| What visits focus on | Patterns, skills and personal goals | Symptoms, side effects and how treatment is going |

Seeing a prescribing provider does not commit you to medication. A good evaluation explains your options, including the choice not to start.
Two small habits make a first visit more useful
Write it down
Note the three things you most want to change.
Bring your list
Include any medications and supplements you take.
You do not have to wait until things feel unmanageable to ask for a visit.
Getting started
How does getting started work, step by step?
Getting started takes four steps: book your intake, have an initial evaluation, build your plan together, then continue with regular follow-ups.
1
Book your intake
Call, message us or use the online form. We will confirm the earliest available time when you book.
2
Have your initial evaluation
An unhurried conversation about your history, symptoms and goals, with no rushing and no judgment.
3
Build your plan
Together we decide on therapy, medication, ARMHS support or a combination, with a clear explanation of every recommendation.
4
Continue with ongoing care
Regular follow-ups to check your progress and adjust course, in person or by telehealth, on a schedule that fits your life.
It helps to bring your insurance card if you plan to use insurance, a list of your current medications, and any questions you would like answered. For a telehealth visit, choose a quiet, private space with a steady internet connection.
The Lumeva Wellness difference
What makes care at Lumeva Wellness different?
Three things set our approach apart: therapy and psychiatric care under one roof, your choice of telehealth or in-person visits, and visits built around your questions.

You might be dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD or the aftermath of trauma. We begin by understanding your history, your goals and what feeling better would look like for you.
